Jessica Simpson and former NFL tight end Eric Johnson might no longer be a couple, but they’re still very much a unit when it comes to family. Despite announcing their separation earlier this year after a decade of marriage, the duo remains closely connected, regularly talking, spending time together and putting their three kids first.
And while the relationship chapter has closed (for now), sources say there’s no drama, just a mutual promise to keep things positive and peaceful.
According to an US Weekly exclusive, a source confirmed that while the couple is not yet divorced, there is currently “no talk of getting back together," however, they are “getting along well, and everyone seems to be very happy.”
“They talk and see each other all the time and have decided that no matter what happens, they will get along for the kids,” the source told the outlet.
Johnson was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round of the 2001 NFL draft and went on to play for the New Orleans Saints before retiring in 2008.
Style reported the couple first met at a house party in 2010, married four years later over the Fourth of July weekend in 2014 and share three children, Maxwell, 13, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 6.
This was a second marriage for both. Simpson was previously married to 98 Degrees lead singer, Nick Lachey, and Johnson was formerly married to stylist Keri D’Angelo.
According to the outlet, when Simpson gave up alcohol in 2017, Johnson lent his support by doing the same.
In her memoir, “Open Book,” Simpson wrote, “Eric gave up drinking the second I did … He said, ‘I’ll do it with you, babe.’ It was, like, no biggie, and he hasn’t gone back or looked back.”
