Legendary athlete Lindsey Vonn is an American World Cup Alpine skier and Olympic gold medal winner. But that doesn’t mean she hasn’t been through hard times throughout the years. This has included various injuries and disappointing setbacks. However, through it all, she has remained positive and kept moving forward. Now, she’s gotten a brand new tattoo to always remind her to just keep going.
Vonn turned to Instagram on Wednesday, June 4, to share a photo of the new tattoo, which is on the side of her finger. She explained the deeper meaning behind it in the caption.
“Nothing good comes from dwelling on the past. We can’t change what’s happened to us but we can accept it, learn from it and move forward. My shark tattoo represents that motto. Sharks have to keep moving forward to survive, they can’t swim backwards or they will die, and they always go after what they want. 💪🏻 So be the shark 🦈 !!, “ she wrote.
While Vonn received lots of love in the comment section, there were a few comments that were less than complimentary.
Vonn took the time to clap back at one in particular.
“Are you retiring soon or will you take another teammate's place on the World Cup?” one person asked.
“I earned my spot. If there is someone who wants my spot, at whatever age, come and beat me for it. It’s sad how you think. You clearly don’t understand how sports work,” Vonn responded.
