A sold out pro skateboarding event in Cleveland on August 9 delivered a breakout victory and spotlighted the sport’s youngest stars. Fans packed the city’s North Coast Yard venue for a competition that mixed some of the best skating in the world with celebrity appearances and an atmosphere that was almost like a festival.

Cordano Russell, 21, claimed his first Street League Skateboarding win in the men’s final, landing a creative run that impressed judges and set off a loud reaction from the crowd. The result capped years of effort for Russell, who called it a new beginning. Carlos Ribeiro and Jhancarlos Gonzalez finished second and third.

The atmosphere at the “takeover” skateboarding event extended beyond the competition. It coincided with MGK Day in Cleveland, a home grown holiday honoring Machine Gun Kelly, who was there at the event. It also featured appearances from Gianni Paolo, MODSUN, and several Cleveland Browns players. Skateboarding legends Kareem Campbell and Chad Muska also came, connecting fans with the roots of the sport.

The women’s competition belonged to Chloe Covell, 15, who has become one of the most dominant figures in skateboarding. The Australian athlete continued her impressive run with another gold medal, winning half of the Street League events she has entered. Japan’s Coco Yoshizawa and Oda Yumeka finished second and third.

The Men’s Wildcard Jam provided an early glimpse of the sport’s next generation. Teenagers Ginwoo Onodera and Julian Agliardi, both 15, secured places in the finals with performances that had the crowd buzzing. Their progression added to a weekend that highlighted how quickly skateboarding’s talent pool is evolving.

The stop in Cleveland delivered key qualification points on the road to the 2025 Street League Super Crown World Championship. The season now shifts to Paris, where the world’s best will meet at Stade Roland Garros on October 11.
