Softball enthusiasts were presented an enticing matchup in the Women's College World Series final on Wednesday, as Texas ace Teagan Kavan and Texas Tech twirler NiJaree Canady shared the spotlight at Devon Park.

Game 1 of the WCWS proved a low-scoring affair. Yet, it was seeped in color; Kavan and Canady pitched masterpieces, combining for 10 strikeouts while surrendering just two earned runs between them.

In the end, the Longhorns claimed a 2-1 victory, benefitting from a late-game Reese Atwood two-run single.
