Texas Tech softball has had a breakout season this year, as the Red Raiders are one series away from winning the Women's College World Series.

This has already been the best season in Texas Tech softball history, making it to the Super Regionals for the first time in 35 seasons. Led by ace pitcher NiJaree Canady, the Red Raiders finished first in the Big 12 and ran through the field to make it to the final series.

However, Texas Tech does not have an extensive history in softball, making this season all the more impressive. The Red Raiders have often finished near the bottom of the Big 12 standings with very few appearances in the NCAA Tournament, but they won the conference for the first time in 2025.

Under first-year head coach Gerry Glasco, Texas Tech has reached many program highs. However, Glasco's biggest win may have been in the offseason, when he added the most coveted player on the transfer market.

The program made Canady the highest-paid player in women's college softball this year, adding a prolific starter to the fold and proving how serious the team was about improving. Canady went on to produce a 35-4 record this year with an ERA of 0.87 and 312 strikeouts in 233 innings.

Here's a look at Texas Tech's entire women's softball history.

Between 1986 and 1995, Texas Tech didn't have a women's college softball team, as it disbanded in 1985 after five seasons before re-forming in 1996. In 35 seasons, Texas Tech has made seven NCAA Tournaments, and they didn't make it to the Super Regionals until this season.

This year, Texas Tech has set many program records, including first time recording over 50 wins and winning the Big 12 for the first time. The Red Raiders have already made it farther in the NCAA Tournament than they have in any other previous seasons.
