The Philadelphia 76ers haven't done a ton during the offseason, but landing V.J. Edgecombe with the third overall pick was something they should’ve been happy about.
Many believe that Edgecombe could be a potential star in this league. He's proved that during the Summer League.
Of course, he’ll have to show that with his first cup of coffee in the NBA, but there are reasons to believe that Edgecombe could be a very good player.
Edgecombe and others have the 76ers excited for the future.
When discussing all the moves the 76ers have made during the offseason, Daryl Morey stated that he's loved what the team has done.
“I think we went in with a big goal of being younger and more athletic among the group that we think will likely be on the floor,” Morey said, according to Philly Voice.
“I feel we've done that.”
It's no secret that the 76ers were looking to get younger during the offseason. They accomplished that, in a sense, by landing Edgecombe and a few others.

Outside of Joel Embiid and Paul George, he noted that the rotation will be players all under 30 years old.
“I think around Joel and Paul, I think pretty much every likely rotation player is 27, 28 or younger,” Morey added. “So, yeah, we're looking forward to that, and optimistic on where things are at with Joel. So, yeah, looking forward to next season."
While it's been a decent offseason for the 76ers, the reality is that they need Embiid and George on the court and to be playing at the highest level.
If not, there isn't much of a path for them to be a contending team.
