The New York Knicks spent a large chunk of their offseason looking for their next coach, and it looks like they got the right guy.
After losing in six games to the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Knicks fired Tom Thibodeau. While it was surprising to see Thibodeau fired after helping New York to their best season in 25 years, the Knicks believed he couldn’t get them over the hump.
After a lengthy coaching search, New York hired Mike Brown to be the franchise’s new bench boss. Brown has loads of experience as an NBA coach and has a knack for building great relationships with his players, and he’s wasted no time doing so since getting hired.
One of the Knicks excited to see Brown take over is Miles McBride. The fan-favorite, who often goes by Deuce, went on The Today Show to talk about his already budding relationship with his new coach.
"We're excited," McBride said. "I feel like the relationship he's already started to build with me and my other teammates have just been amazing. Already reaching out to us, and it's just introductions, so nothing huge about basketball yet, but it's going to be exciting.”
The Knicks are one of the top contenders to come out of the Eastern Conference next season and are expected to compete for an NBA title. McBride will likely be one of the key fixtures off the bench for Brown as he takes over next season, and if these early feelings mean anything, a fun season in Madison Square Garden could be on the horizon.
