The Golden State Warriors need all the help they can get, and the perfect addition might still be within reach.
Over the past few years, the Warriors have struggled to find the right pieces to fit around Stephen Curry as he is in the final stages of his stardom. While 2022 was likely the final title run for the future Hall of Famer, Golden State has still tried to make the right moves to remain in title contention.
Although the team hasn’t been close to championship contention since its last title, the Warriors have made some big moves, such as the deadline deal for Jimmy Butler last season. Although they might have paired Curry with another star-caliber player, the Warriors' depth is still shaky at best.
With the Jonathan Kuminga saga holding up every part of the Warriors’ offseason, that might not change soon. Still, that hasn’t stopped the Warriors from popping up as potential suitors for some of the league’s top free agents.
Recently, Jake Fischer reported that the Warriors are interested in adding Malcolm Brogdon. The 2023 Sixth Man of the Year winner, Brogdon could provide the Warriors with some added playmaking and shooting off the bench or alongside Curry in the starting backcourt.
Although he has been stuck in Washington for a couple of years, Brogdon could still be a winning addition for the Warriors in their hopes of making the playoffs again next season. Although there’s no guarantee that adding Brogdon would keep Golden State in the playoff picture, it likely wouldn’t hurt.
