It’ll be a strange season for the Boston Celtics, many familiar faces such as Jayson Tatum, Al Horford, and Jrue Holiday won’t be suiting up for the team next season. Despite that, this year will present a massive opportunity for some of the Celtics’ lesser known talents.

Backup big man Neemias Queta has shot up the depth chart after the departures of Kristaps Porzingis, Luke Kornet, and soon-to-be Al Horford. As a result, it’s very possible that Queta is the team’s starter on opening night this upcoming season.

CLNS Media’s Bobby Manning spoke with Queta about his new opportunity, and what he wishes to improve upon in his fifth NBA season.

“Obviously, I think it's making sure I get in great shape,” Queta said. “Go out there and make elite decisions with the ball in my hands and making sure I get great finishes this year. I also want to like raise up my free throw attempts this year. Just want to be aggressive and make sure I get my percentage up on the free-throw line, too.”

Queta has seen his most NBA action with the Celtics in his four-year career. In two seasons with the team, he’s averaged 5.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game in 90 appearances (6 starts). Now, in what will certainly be a bit of a transition season for the Celtics, Queta will have the best opportunity of his career up to this point to make an impression, and potentially become a long-term option going forward.
