Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim faces some huge squad decisions ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

The Portuguese coach will be handed a transfer budget to work with - despite missing out on European qualification - with a deal already wrapped up for Brazil international Matheus Cunha.

Bryan Mbeumo is also on Amorim's radar, but sales are needed to finance that deal, as Amorim aims for a clear out of his unwanted stars.

Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans have already departed following the expirations of their contracts and more exits are on track at Old Trafford.

Amorim is also determined to offload returning loan trio Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Antony - alongside Argentina international Alejandro Garnacho - as part of a major reshuffle.

At this stage, Sancho looks the most likely to stay in Manchester, with a lack of interest in the former Borussia Dortmund attacker following a loan stint at Chelsea.

Rashford is on Barcelona's transfer radar, with Chelsea now tracking Garnacho, and Real Betis keen to broker a deal to bring Antony back to Andalucia.

As part of the ongoing multiple transfer sagas, United are hoping to bring in a combined fee of around £85m for Rashford and Garnacho, but Real Betis will not meet their valuation of Antony and that could become another loan.

If United can secure those sales, it will be a major boost to Amorim's plans, but United could still end up paying salaries to their exiting stars.

How much will United pay to sell Rashford and Garnacho?

Rashford, Garnacho and Antony are all under contract in Manchester until 2028 which makes selling them more difficult for Amorim due to the potential for salary settlements needed on all three players.

As per data from salary experts Spotrac, Rashford currently earns around £15.6m per year, with Garnacho on an estimated £2.6m, and Antony bringing in £10m.

United will try to reach an agreement with Real Betis to cover the majority - or potentially all of Antony's wages - in exchange for a share of his playing rights which will increase year-by-year.

However, that still leaves £18.2m annually unaccounted for on Rashford and Garnacho, with reports from the Daily Telegraph indicating the Red Devils will need to keep paying at least 50% of that for the next three years, to convince clubs to buy the pair.

Barcelona are reportedly demanding a major contribution from Manchester to step up their interest in Rashford and bonus payments could bring the bill up to £10m a year until 2028.
