A man suspected of driving his car into crowds at the Liverpool Premier League victory parade has had a further 24 charges brought against him.

Paul Doyle appeared in court this morning via video link, speaking only to confirm his identity.

The former Marine was previously charged with seven offences after it was alleged he used his Ford Galaxy to drive into crowds in Liverpool city centre who were celebrating the side's Premier League victory, injuring 134 people.

Mr Doyle was only informed of the new charges, of which six relate to offences against children, this morning.

Honorary Recorder of Liverpool Judge Andrew Menary KC agreed to adjourn the arrangement until September 4 upon request from his defence.

At his first appearance at court, Liverpool Magistrates' Court heard that he had allegedly "used his vehicle deliberately as a weapon".

Hundreds of fans had been leaving the waterfront parade when the incident happened just after 6pm on Water Street on May 26.

The father-of-two was arrested at the scene, where fire crews had to work to rescue several people still trapped underneath the car.

Dozens more were taken to hospital to be treated, with ages ranging from nine to 78 years old.

They have all since been discharged.

Two of the new offences added to the indictment (a term for a list of charges he faces) involved assault against one six-month-old and one seven-month-old.

Mr Doyle remains remanded in custody, with a provisional trial date set for November 24.

The trial could last for three to four weeks.
