Whether MS Dhoni will return to the next season of the Indian Premier League is a question that is asked every year now, for the last few years.

A lot of speculations are made every time he takes to the field, especially since the IPL title that the Chennai Super Kings won in 2023, however, the big man has returned and played another couple of seasons.

In the ongoing season, he returned to captaining the side at 43 following the end of the season for Ruturaj Gaikwad through an injury.

The Super Kings have one more match to play before their season officially ends this year, and whether he returns for the next edition is the question being thrown around once again.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo after CSK's 6-wicket loss against the Rajasthan Royals, the former India coach was asked if Dhoni should return in 2026 where he thought, he would call it a day, if he was MS.

"It all boils down to MS, but if I were MS, I would say 'Enough. Okay, I have played whatever I had to play. I have looked after the interest of the franchise as well' — if there was any, and that was the motivation," said Bangar.

"You know, you move on. By you being there — if you think the transition will happen faster, there is no ideal time to pick. So, you might as well have peace with the fact that the franchise will develop on its own. Maybe it will take a year longer, but I won't be here for the entire cycle [of three years]," the former India batting coach concluded.
