The five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), are seeking a major squad overhaul after finishing bottom of the table in the 2025 season.

While they attempted to address some areas with injury replacements during the season, some concerns remained unresolved.

Following the inclusion of Dewald Brevis mid-season, CSK's search for an experienced and explosive overseas opener will continue in the upcoming mini-auction for IPL 2026.

Which overseas openers will CSK target in IPL 2026 Mini Auction?

Conway was picked up by the Super Kings for Rs. 6.25 crores in the mega auction, continuing their relationship that started in 2022. However, like everything else, this move did not work out for CSK in 2025.

The southpaw managed only 156 runs in 6 matches at an underwhelming strike rate of 131.09.

Ben Duckett

According to a Zee News report, CSK is likely to target Ben Duckett, who went unsold in the previous auction and has a base price of 2 crore, to replace the opener and potentially pick a partner for Ayush Mhatre.

The 30-year-old English batter has shown some great form and consistency over the last couple of years and has a T20I strike rate of 153.64 in 20 matches played for England, scoring 527 runs, averaging 29.27.

Duckett also has 5294 T20 runs in 210 matches at an average of 30.77 and a strike rate of 140.57, with 34 fifties to his name.

Cameron Green

Another player reportedly on CSK's target list is Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, who missed the 2025 season and recently returned from his stress fracture.

Despite missing almost 9 months of action, the Aussie star did not take long to get going, scoring three fifties in the five-match T20I series in the West Indies, followed by 35(13) against South Africa.

In his previous stints with the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Green has scored 707 runs at an average of 51.58 and a strike rate of 153.69 and also has an IPL ton to his name.

Both Duckett and Green could be serious options who can bat in the top order alongside Mhatre, who has most likely sealed his spot with impactful performances as an injury replacement at just 17.
