The league had to be suspended midway due to escalating tensions across the borders between India and Pakistan. After a ceasefire agreement, the IPL governing body held discussions with the government of India, the franchises, and the broadcasters for the quick resumption of the cash-rich league.
According to the revised schedule, the league will start with the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The final is scheduled to be played on June 3, although a venue is yet to be decided. As per the initial schedule, Kolkata's Eden Gardens was supposed to host the mega clash.
Fresh reports have emerged that BCCI are considering shift the final to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, citing poor weather conditions in Kolkata on that particular day.
