The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had suspended the league for a week, citing security reasons across various venues. With the ceasefire announced on May 10, Friday, between the two nations, the IPL is likely to resume sooner than expected.

However, there is a possibility of shifting venues for the final away from Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The Sporting News tells you why.

IPL 2025 Final: Ahmedabad to host? Why BCCI might shift from Eden Gardens

The IPL final was previously scheduled to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, according to the original fixtures, and because the home team, Kolkata Knight Riders, were the 2024 edition champions.

However, due to recent developments, the IPL had to be halted with twelve games still left to play, including the four knockout stage games.

The good news is, the league could resume as early as May 16, which will see the Final getting shifted to a later date, reported to be May 30.

Unfortunately, there's a hint of skepticism regarding the final being played in Kolkata.

According to PTI sources, the final could be shifted to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, as there is a possibility of rain jeopardizing the all-important clash at the iconic Eden Gardens. Check out the tweet below.

A source close to the BCCI has told the Press Trust of India (PTI) that the Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be held in Hyderabad as usual, but the Grand Final could be shifted away from Kolkata due to bad weather conditions.

Speaking to PTI, the source said, "As of now there is no change in venues for the play-off stage but it seems rain can affect the final in Kolkata. In that case the final could be played in Ahmedabad."

Many argue that shifting the game to Ahmedabad will provide an unfair advantage to the Gujarat Titans (GT) if they qualify for the Finals of the IPL 2025.
