The Indian Premier League game between the Punjab Kings and the Delhi Capitals was called off in Dharamsala on May 8 amid the cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.

As PBKS won the toss and decided to bat first, they posted 122/1 at 10.1 overs before the floodlights went off in the stadium, and the match was halted.

Minutes later, the match was officially called off, citing technical reasons as per the official press release from the IPL.

However, the BCCI vice-president has spoken up regarding the security concerns and announced a special train to evacuate the players and staff of both teams.

Rajeev Shukla, the BCCI vice-president, spoke about the players' security being of utmost importance in the current situation and shed some light on the future of the IPL season amid the cross-border tensions.

"We are organising a special train to bring everybody home safely. As of now, the match has been called off and the stadium has been evacuated. We will take a call on the tournament's future depending on the situation tomorrow. As of now, players' safety is of utmost importance," says BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla.

As of 11:00 pm IST on May 8, an emergency IPL governing council meeting is underway to determine the future of IPL 2025.
