Scoring a double hundred in a Test match is a major achievement in itself and only five Indian captains have achieved such a feat in the past.
Legendary Indian skipper Mansoor Ali Khan was the first Indian skipper to score a double century in a Test match. Khan scored an unbeaten 203 against England at the Feroze Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi and 1964.

He was followed by Sunil Gavaskar, who scored his only double century as the Indian captain against the mighty West Indies in 1978 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni have also scored 200 each, while Virat Kohli is the only Indian captain to score multiple double hundreds in Test cricket.
New Indian Test skipper Shubman Gill scored his maiden 200 in the red-ball format on July 3 in the first innings of the 2nd Test of the five-match series against England. He also became the first Asian captain to score a double hundred in a Test match.
