The Indian domestic season for the 2025/26 season is set to begin from August 28, where six zonal teams will compete in the Duleep Trophy

Days after leading the Indian team to an inspiring 2-2 draw in the England tour, Shubman Gill is now all set to compete at the domestic level, as he has been named as the captain of the North Zone side.

Ankit Kumar will serve as a deputy to Gill, while fast bowler Anshul Kamboj, who made his international debut in the fourth Test against England at Manchester, has also been named in the squad.

In the case where any of the squad members get picked for the Indian national team and a tournament coincides with the Duleep Trophy, players from the stand-by list will enter the roster. 

"It was discussed and decided in the meeting that, in the event Shubman Gill, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, or any of them are selected for the Indian team during the upcoming series coinciding with the Duleep Trophy tournament, the following replacements will be made: Shubham Rohilla (SSCB) will replace Shubman Gill Gurnoor Brar will replace Arshdeep Singh Anuj Thakral will replace Harshit Rana."

Shubman Gill to lead North Zone in Duleep Trophy 2025

After a stellar performance in his maiden Test series as captain of the Indian team, Gill will now look forward to asserting his domination at the domestic level.

With the bat, the Indian captain broke multiple records and was the highest run scorer in the series, with 754 runs to his name. He hit four centuries and batted at an average of 75.40 in 10 innings.
