Now, Revsportz reports that Gill will also serve as deputy to India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav, as the star batter is all set to be appointed as the vice-captain of the Indian team in the shortest format.

There were doubts over SKY's participation in the competition due to an injury problem, however, the Indian skipper has reportedly hit the nets as he is working on regaining full fitness ahead of the Asia Cup.

Shubman Gill to captain the Indian ODI side soon

The Revsportz report adds that the team management are considering handing the ODI captaincy to Gill soon, along with the responsibility of leading in the Test format.

Doubts have been raised over the participation of senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the 2027 ODI World Cup, which means that Gill could soon take charge of the ODI side, taking the responsibility from Sharma.
