Indian captain Shubman Gill stepped up when he was needed the most as his marvellous 103-run knock kept the team's hopes alive to save the fourth Test match in Manchester.
After England scored a massive 669 runs and took a 311-run lead, India were reduced to 0/2 in their second innings as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan departed in quick succession in the very first over.
The skipper walked out under extreme pressure as India were staring at a second consecutive loss and losing the series in the process. Along with KL Rahul, Gill put up a magnificent 188-run partnership as India did not lose any more wickets on Day 4.
