Having played the advised three Tests of the England series, Jasprit Bumrah was released from the Indian squad ahead of Day 2 of the Oval Test.
The 31-year-old finished the series with 14 wickets in 3 matches, which include a five-wicket haul each at Headingley and Lord's.
After his back issues resurfaced in Sydney earlier this year, the bowler was out of action for several months, while also missing the ICC Champions Trophy.

Citing the persistent problem, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are looking to keep him fit and available for marquee series and ICC events.
In this article, we take a look at the next possible match that Bumrah features in for India.

When will Jasprit Bumrah play the next match for India?
India is scheduled to travel to the United Arab Emirates for the Asia Cup that starts from September 10 for the Blues.
With the UAE, Pakistan and Oman in the group, it is highly likely that India goes deep into the tournament.
Should India reach the final of the Asia Cup on September 28, it is highly unlikely that the bowler will feature in the Test series against the West Indies from October 2.
"It will be a tricky call, but Bumrah loves Test cricket and there are World Test Championship points at stake. As far as T20 is concerned, he can play the series against New Zealand in January, which will be a dress rehearsal for the T20 World Cup," a BCCI source said.

"If Bumrah plays the Asia Cup and suppose India plays the final, no way he can play against the West Indies at Ahmedabad."
However, with the West Indies series set to be played at home, India might opt for 3 spinners, making Bumrah's inclusion in the two Tests less essential.
This would mean the pacer will be well rested for the three ODIs and five T20Is against Australia, followed by the South Africa series.
"Obviously, the question arises, do you need Bumrah against the West Indies, or does he play the Asia Cup after a month's break and play the two Tests against South Africa. That call, Ajit Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir will have to take," he concluded.

He could then play the New Zealand T20Is that would help the Indian unit prepare for the T20 World Cup at home in February and March.
