Australia's Cameron Green returned to the shortest format with a blistering fifty against the West Indies at Sabina Park on Sunday, July 20.

The all-rounder had sustained four stress fractures in his lower back (lumbar spine) in September 2024 and had to undergo surgery that kept him out of 9 months of international cricket.

After recently returning to the Test squad in June for the World Test Championship Final against South Africa, he was also called up for the Test and T20I teams that travelled to the West Indies.

With a lot of eyes from the Indian Premier League (IPL) on him ahead of the mini-auction later in the year, the Aussie star went all guns blazing on his return to potentially add several lakhs to his auction price.

Check out how he performed below.

Before Sunday, the all-rounder last played a T20 match against England in Cardiff on September 13, 2024.

Green has also represented the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL. However, he did not feature in the recent edition in 2025 due to injury.

Batting at 4 on in the 190-run chase, he joined Josh Inglis at 46/2 with 144 still required in 89 balls.

Before taking charge of the innings, he quickly lost two of his partners, Inglis and Glenn Maxwell, as the scoreboard read 78/4 in 8.2 overs.

Batting with the debutant Mitchell Owen, he added 80(40) for the 5th wicket and helped Australia come back into the match.

The 26-year-old smashed 51(26) with the help of 5 towering sixes and 2 fours before Gudakesh Motie dismissed him.

Thanks to his impactful performance, Australia won the match by 3 wickets with 7 balls left and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Notably, the all-rounder is yet to bowl a single over since his international return in June, as Australia looks to manage his workload and ease him in gradually.

Will Cameron Green be a part of the IPL mini auction 2026?

Green was not part of the mega-auction ahead of IPL 2025 after he decided to undergo surgery. However, he is expected to return to the IPL auction for the 2026 season.

The last time Green featured in the IPL was for RCB in the 2024 Eliminator, where the Rajasthan Royals beat them by 4 wickets.

Batting at number 3, he scored 27(21) and bowled 4 overs with the figures of 1/28.

When will the IPL 2026 mini auction take place?

There is no official confirmation yet but the IPL mini auctions are generally scheduled between November and December. That gives franchises time to reassess their squads post-season, decide on retentions and releases, and prepare for trades or fresh signings.
