Shubman Gill's record-breaking 754-run tour of England as a captain had a lot of fans and experts turn their heads and applaud him for the effort that led India to a 2-2 series draw.

Following the success of the tour, Gill's jersey from the Lord's Test was in high demand at the seventh annual Red For Ruth auction, which raised funds for the Ruth Strauss Foundation.

Heading into the Lord's game, India's new Test captain was coming in supreme form, scoring 3 centuries in the previous 4 innings, including a 269, and as expected, his match jersey went for a significant price in the auction.

What was the highest bid for Shubman Gill's Lord's Test Jersey?

India captain's jersey number 77, which was worn in the third India-England Test, went for Rs. 5.41L (£4600) in the auction.

The online auction was run between July 10 to 27, and the estimated price listed was between £120-£150 on the website

Notably, Day 2 of the India vs England Test at Lord's also saw the teams, officials, broadcasters and fans around the ground sporting red color to show support to the #RedForRuth campaign to raise awareness and funds for families coping with the passing of their family members to cancer.

Additionally, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah's jerseys went for Rs. 4.94L (£4200) each, while KL Rahul's jersey was bought at Rs, 4.71L (£4000). The highest bid on an England jersey was Rs. 4.47L (£3800) for Joe Root.
