Hosted by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, the 2025 edition of one of the oldest domestic competitions in India, the All India Buchi Babu Invitational Trophy is set to be played from August 18 to September 9
Named after the trailblazer of cricket in Tamil Nadu, Mothavarapu Venkata Mahipathi Naidu, popularly known as Buchi Babu Naidu, the first edition of the competition was played in 1909/10.
In the tournament, which is played in preparation for the Indian domestic season, 16 teams will be divided into four groups.

The league matches of the competition will be played across three days, with each team playing 90 overs in the first innings, followed by a 45-over second innings. The semi-final and final will be extended to a four-day format.
This year, the competition will get an extra dose of star power, with the likes of Sarfaraz Khan, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Prithvi Shaw among others featuring in the event to increase some anticipation around the fixtures.

When is the Buchi Babu Trophy 2025?
Round 1 of the Buchi Babu Trophy 2025 will begin from August 18 to 20. The final of the tournament will be played from September 6 to 9.
