De Villiers happens to be one of the few cricketers who is loved worldwide even now, four years after he retired from all forms of cricket. He was widely known for his dominance with the bat across formats and intimidated opponents with his exceptional stroke play.

AB De Villiers leads South Africa Champions to their maiden WCL title
Team South Africa Champions defeated Pakistan Champions comprehensively in the final of the WCL 2025. It was a one-man show as De Villiers led the chase of 196 for the Proteas, scoring a staggering 120 off just 60 balls. He was supported well by JP Duminy, who scored 50 off 28 balls, as the side won the game by 9 wickets and 19 balls to spare.
Earlier, Team Pakistan Champions posted a good-looking total of 195 in 20 overs. Sharjeel Khan produced a vital knock of 76, which came off just 44 deliveries.
Soon after lifting the trophy, the South African legend was captured with his wife, sharing a beautiful moment, as the couple posed for a picture with the trophy.

De Villiers thoroughly dominated the tournament, as he topped the batter's charts with 431 runs in 6 innings at an unbelievable average of 143.67. His heroics included three centuries, which came against England, Australia, and Pakistan.

While the South African legend has broken several cricketing records, one thing that he could not get much of during his playing days was big ICC titles. However, the WCL trophy adds a new dimension to the great man's legacy and his love for the sport.
