Is Sidney Crosby being traded? Explaining posts on Penguins legend being dealt to Avalanche image

Sidney Crosby is an NHL legend who will always wear one uniform in everyone’s mental image of him.

Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins go hand in hand.

But there’s been a weird piece of news circulating on social media this week — multiple posts indicate that Crosby is being traded.

A few of the viral posts say specifically that Crosby is going to the Colorado Avalanche.

Would the Penguins ever trade their franchise legend? Would Crosby ever let it happen? Could the Avalanche pull it off?

There’s no need to worry, Pittsburgh fans.

Is Sidney Crosby being traded?

No, Sidney Crosby is not being traded.

With NHL free agency coming up, a number of fake NHL insider accounts have shown up on X in recent days.

None of the main NHL newsmakers have posted about a Crosby trade, and they’d certainly know if something was happening.

And there’s a more direct source related to this, too.

The Avalanche aren’t trading for Crosby. Superstar center Nathan MacKinnon took to Instagram to comment on one of the posts with two words: “Fake news.”
