Daniil Misyul came to North America two years ago after a successful playing career in Russia.
The journey didn't pay off in a big way, and now Misyul is heading back where he came from.
It means the Boston Bruins won't get a chance to keep their restricted free agent defenseman. The news was announced by the KHL.
Misyul was traded to the Bruins at the deadline from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for forward Marc McLaughlin.
He didn't actually get into a game with Boston. At AHL Providence, Misyul had a goal and was a minus-two in 11 appearances.

Misyul is a third-round pick of the Devils in 2019. He's a 6-foot-3, 196-pound lefty.
A native of Belarus, Misyul played for Lokomotiv in the KHL for 184 games before coming to the NHL. That's the team he is signing with again.
This shouldn't be a huge blow to the Bruins, but it does prevent them from seeing if their trade acquisition can develop into something more than just an AHL defender.
It didn't cost much to see what Misyul was made of, though, and so Boston shouldn't fret much about how this worked out.
