Jaxson Dart making noise in New York Giants quarterback competition

The ideal plan for the New York Giants and rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart is this: Let the rook get a redshirt season in 2025, learning behind veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, and prepare the former Ole Miss star to be unleashed in 2026.

But we know how things tend to go with first-round quarterbacks.

In other words, the best plans always get tossed out the window once a team loses a few games in a row.

For the Giants, who have the NFL's toughest schedule in 2025, their plan for Dart could be scrapped by midseason, forcing the 25th overall pick to make his pro debut sooner than anyone would've wanted.

Perhaps that won't be a bad thing, though. At least, not with how Dart is looking so far during New York's minicamp practice.

Check out some of his completions during the Giants' 7-on-7 sessions:

As for learning behind Big Blue's veteran passers, Dart was seen chopping it up with Winston, who will be a great asset for the first-rounder.

While it's highly unlikely Dart will have a strong enough training camp and preseason to challenge Russell Wilson for the QB1 role, he's had a promising start to his first offseason program and looks every bit the part of a player who's capable of shouldering a bigger role than most rookies.

If he continues down his current path, there's no doubt Jaxson Dart will make his NFL debut before the 2025 season concludes.
