The New York Giants' combination of coach Brian Daboll and quarterback Russell Wilson won't send shivers down the spines of opposing defensive coordinators, but it's at least a competent duo of experience and production that has the Giants' offense pointed in a more optimistic direction this season.
But in a new ranking of every team's QB-coach duo entering the 2025 season, New York was among the NFL's worst.
The Giants' pair checked in at No. 26.
"The Brian Daboll–Joe Schoen partnership could be in trouble if the Giants can’t figure things out," Sports Illustrated's Matt Verderame wrote. "New York has missed the playoffs the past two years while having a combined record of 9–25. While the Giants selected Jaxson Dart in the first round of April’s draft, Wilson is the likely starter at the outset with a litany of experience. It would be a surprise if he lasted the year in the top seat."

It's hard to argue with this assessment. While Wilson profiles as a perfect bridge quarterback before the Dart era officially kicks off, the reality is that he's only that: a QB who will try to keep everyone employed while the first-round rookie gets ready to play.
While I do think there's a chance Williams can enjoy a renaissance season under Daboll, an outcome like that would qualify as a surprise. Instead, it's more likely that Wilson plays average (at best) football for, say, 10 games before stepping aside for Dart, who'd have to prove over the final dash of the 2025 season that Daboll is worthy of sticking around for 2026 and beyond.
