The New England Patriots spent the fourth overall pick on Will Campbell. Campbell made it clear what his mission is as a Patriot, and Drake Maye didn't hold back on his thoughts after hearing it.

Right after being drafted by the Patriots, Campbell was interviewed by NFL Network. Campbell was emotional after getting drafted and noted that he was very appreciative to be drafted by a first-class organization like the Patriots. He also noted that he has worked his whole life to hear his name called. However, the message that was met with roars from the crowd was his explanation of how he is going to set the tone.

"I'm going to fight and die to protect (Maye) with everything I've got," Campbell said.

Maye quickly noticed and sent a four-word message on X.

"Love this guy already," Maye wrote on X.

The Patriots made the obvious selection and added an elite lineman for their franchise quarterback. Campbell projects to be the team's starting left tackle from Day 1.

Campbell was a First-team Associated Press All-American and First-team All-SEC. He shared the SEC Jacobs Blocking Trophy with Texas LT Kelvin Banks Jr. and was a finalist for the Lombardi Award. Campbell was the best lineman in this draft class, and now he will be protecting Maye's blindside.

The Patriots have many other needs and can address them throughout the rest of the draft. However, they made sure to add a left tackle who can be a part of their long-term plans with their first pick. Their choice clearly has their quarterback happy.
