The Denver Broncos selected seven players in the 2025 NFL Draft before signing 15 players as undrafted free agents. As the team built its 90-man roster, the name of Kyrese White was nowhere to be seen.
However, as the team conducted its rookie mini-camp shortly after the draft, they hosted a variety of tryout players. One of those players was White, and he did enough in those few practices to convince the front office to give him an extended look this summer.
Broncos Undrafted Rookie Spotlight
Name: Kyrese White
Height: 5-foot-10
Weight: 185
Position: Wide receiver
School: Utah State
White has also gone by the name Kyrese Rowan, and that is how he is currently recognized on the team's roster at NFL.com. He discusses his name change to White in this interview, where he comes across as a guy the fans could start to root for.
He began his college career at Utah before transferring to Utah State. He played in 50 games in total and caught 47 passes for 534 yards and three touchdowns. His numbers were paltry, which is one of the reasons he went unnoticed by most teams in this year's draft cycle, but he likely showed that he has a strong work ethic during his tryout and the coaching staff felt they could work with him.
White's stepdad, Emmett, sits at No. 3 on Utah State's all-time list for all-purpose yardage.
Chances of making final 53-man roster (1-10 scale): 1
White has his foot in the door, but it's hard to make an NFL roster even as a late-round pick. It's extremely difficult as a player signed as an undrafted free agent and beyond that, it's all but impossible. For White to make the team, he'd have to overcome some extreme odds because let's face it, there's a reason no other teams offered him a contract.
That said, he has a chance. He did enough to show the Broncos that he was more worthy of a contract than a player they initially signed as an undrafted free agent. He will need to make the most of every single rep he gets this summer and soak up all the knowledge that he can, showing himself to be a guy who is willing to stick his nose in on special teams to begin with.
Even if he excels in that role, he'd likely be looking at a spot on the practice squad.
