Texas Tech running back Quinten Joyner will miss the 2025 season with a knee injury, according to a report by Don Williams of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
The Southern Cal transfer suffered the injury during the team's second preseason scrimmage on Saturday at Jones AT&T Stadium. He was a projected starter going into the season for the Red Raiders.
Joyner was entering his sophomore season after being USC's second-leading rusher last year with 75 touches for 567 total yards and four total touchdows. He chose Texas Tech over Ohio State in the Red Raiders' outstanding transfer class. His best preformances to date was 10 carries for 84 yards and two TDs against Utah State and 10 carries for 83 yards against Notre Dame.
Now the duties will shift to J'Koby Williams and Cameron Dickey, both of whom played all last year behind 1,500-yard rusher Tahj Brooks. Williams rushed for 123 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown in the Liberty Bowl loss to Arkansas.
Texas Tech is entering the season coming off an 8-5 campaign under head coach Joey McGuire last fall. The Red Raiders will officially open the season on Aug. 30 when it hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
