Clemson tight end Ian Schieffelin was arrested this weekend on suspicion of DUI, according to TigerNet's David Hood.
The converted basketball star joined the Tigers for during the spring practice period after four years on the hardwood.
Dabo Swinney released a statement to TigerNet via a team spokesman, saying, “We are aware of Ian Schieffelin’s arrest on suspicion of DUI. Clemson Athletics has a clear policy by which we will abide, so Ian will miss some competition to start this season as a consequence. We’re obviously very disappointed by the situation, but we are very thankful no others were involved and no one was hurt.”
Schieffelin completed his eligibility in basketball before opting to use the final year of his five-year collegiate clock to pursue football. He helped the Tigers to NCAA Tournament appearances in each of his final two seasons, including a program-record-tying Elite Eight appearance as a junior in 2023-24 and a program-record 27 wins as a senior in 2024-25.
Clemson opens the 2025 football season on Saturday, August 30 against LSU.
