Omarion Miller is back and the Buffs quarterbacks could not have a better weapon at their disposal than the highly touted junior wide receiver out of Vivan, Louisiana.
A wideout who lit up the USC secondary in 2023, setting a Colorado freshman record in the process with 196 yards in the game on seven catches and a touchdown.
In his sophomore season, Miller showed that he can be a headache for defensive coordinators. Against Baylor, he had a 58-yard touchdown reception, but what stood out about that touchdown was his leg strength and balance that he had breaking a perfect form tackle by Baylor’s defensive back in a highlight moment.
But after that broken tackle, he showed his breakaway speed by running away from two other players in Baylor’s secondary. Against Kansas State, he was in the midst of his most complete game for the Buffs. That was before an injury ruined his night and his season. Miller had to sit out the remainder of the year due to a broken leg.
A healthy Miller means trouble for the opposition, and comparisons have already been made to Ohio State Sophomore standout Jeremiah Smith. But for Buffs faithful, the most viable comparison is to CU’s greatest wide receiver in Michael Westbrook.
Miller is listed at 6’2 and 210 pounds. Westbrook was listed at 6’4 and 210 pounds while their size and weight are nearly identical. The comparisons keep coming.
Both players have big play capability, great body control, size, and the ability to separate from coverage, physicality, quickness, and soft hands.
Westbrook, known for the “Miracle at Michigan” also finished his CU career as a First Team All-American and was awarded the Paul Warfield Trophy as the nation’s top wide receiver. Miller has all the tools and traits that Westbrook had, and with how much teams love to throw the ball these days, Miller could become CU’s next big wideout.
Last season was a grueling year for Miller, but he has talked about how he is back and feels better than ever and more confident. Miller has spoken about how he is more driven coming into this season and that he is ready to take over. And taking over, he will be with many last year’s wideout room, making their way to the NFL in Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, Jimmy Horn Jr., LaJohntay Wester, and Will Sheppard.
But this season is Miller's for the taking, and with the opener against Georgia Tech just around the corner, it's time to shine. He soon could be the new name and face of the Colorado Buffaloes offensive attack.
