If you follow the NBA at all, you know the Los Angeles Lakers desperately need a competent big man.
Jaxson Hayes and Dorian Finney-Smith are not going to cut it, so they are best off either trading for one or searching the free agency market this coming offseason to fulfill their needs.
Names like Nic Claxton and Wendell Carter Jr have been linked to the historic franchise, but may be hard to acquire.
One name that should pique Rob Pelinka’s interest is none other than Atlanta Hawks' Clint Capela.
Starting July 1, 2025, Capela will be a free agent and will fill the Lakers' budgetary restrictions nicely.
He will probably look for a deal that is less than $10 million a year, and with his playoff experience and ability to rebound and protect the rim, he could be the perfect option for the new look Lakers.

During the 2017-2018 season, Capela was teammates with the league's MVP, James Harden. They shared the floor with the Houston Rockets, and Capela had a career year, averaging 13.9 points per game, 10.8 rebounds per game, and 1.8 blocks per game.
When he shares the court with an elite guard who possesses a high-level passing ability, he has the potential to thrive.
Though his numbers have dropped off since playing with Harden, sharing the court with Lebron James and Luka Dončić may revitalize Capela’s game.
