Blue Jays' Ernie Clement given clear case as MLB All-Star image

Ernie Clement is one of the most underrated players in baseball this season.

The Toronto Blue Jays' super utility man leads the AL East's 1st-place team in Wins Above Replacement, and he's red hot coinciding with the Blue Jays' hot streak.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale writes that Clement should be an All-Star selection:

"If there was an All-Star selection for a utility player, Ernie Clement of the Toronto Blue Jays would be your man. During this Blue Jays’ MLB-best 23-10 run, Clement is hitting .362. He leads the Blue Jays in WAR (2.4) and ranks fourth in baseball by producing 12 outs above average."

Clement's infield work has come at all four spots around the horn.

He has put his well-rounded skillset to use in all sorts of ways to have a career season so far.

Clement has always been a great contact hitter. He's always been quick. He's always had a good glove.

And this season, it has all combined into one to turn him into a true difference maker.

The Blue Jays would be in a much different position this season without Clement.

By value to his team, Clement is an All-Star for sure.
