The Baltimore Orioles are getting desperate behind the plate.
Adley Rutschman is already out injured. Gary Sanchez was just placed on the IL. And they've also got depth catchers Maverick Handley and Chadwick Tromp hurt.
The Orioles aren't calling up top prospect Samuel Basasllo yet.
Instead, to pair with Jacob Stallings on the MLB roster, they've traded international bonus money to the New York Yankees for Alex Jackson.
Jackson was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2014 MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners.

He has never really discovered his bat fully in pro ball, though.
In 302 MLB at bats between four teams, Jackson has batted just .132 with six homers.
Jackson is 29 years old (he'll turn 30 on Christmas).
The righty hitting, righty throwing backstop was hitting .226 with 10 homers at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season.
The Yankees didn't even have him on their 40-man roster, but the Orioles immediately added him to theirs to get him to the majors.
It's not clear how much Jackson will play relative to Stallings, but this could be one of his last shots.
