Former NRL and Super League forward Zane Tetevano is set to front court next month, facing serious criminal charges just a year after calling time on his rugby league career.
As reported by The Western Weekender, the 33-year-old will appear in a Wyong courtroom, with an Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) matter also scheduled to be heard the following day. Details of the charges remain under wraps for now, but the case marks a sharp fall from grace for the ex-Kiwi international.
Tetevano retired in 2023 after 13 seasons at the top level, playing 170 professional games across the NRL and Super League. His career took him from the Newcastle Knights, where he debuted in 2011, through to stints with the Sydney Roosters, Penrith Panthers, and Leeds Rhinos.

From redemption to controversy once again
The Cook Islands and New Zealand representative was once sacked from Newcastle for disciplinary breaches, but fought his way back into the NRL after two years away from the game. His most successful run came with the Roosters, including a role in their 2018 Grand Final win.
He was also part of the 2019 Grand Final squad before being replaced last minute by Jake Friend.
Tetevano never played a game for the Manly Sea Eagles or Canterbury Bulldogs despite being on their rosters at different stages. His return to the headlines, however, is now far removed from the comeback story he once embodied.
