Panthers CEO sets the record straight on transfer rumours image

Penrith Panthers CEO Matt Cameron has put to bed speculation linking the reigning premiers with Wests Tigers utility Adam Doueihi and Dragons back Tyrell Sloan, confirming the club has no interest in pursuing either player.

The Panthers have recently found themselves at the centre of recruitment rumours, with reports suggesting they were targeting both Sloan and Doueihi as potential additions for 2026.

But the club’s CEO put the rumours to rest, telling The Western Weekender’s Peter Lang that there are no plans to pursue either Doueihi or Sloan.

Once viewed as the cornerstone of St George Illawarra’s future, Tyrell Sloan has struggled to find consistent form over the past 18 months.

The arrival of veteran fullback Clint Gutherson this season has further complicated his position at the club, forcing Sloan out of his preferred fullback role and onto the wing for the 2025 NRL season.

Although contracted with the Dragons until the end of 2026, the 23-year-old was reportedly granted permission to explore opportunities elsewhere earlier this season, with links emerging to both the Panthers and Super League outfit Catalans Dragons.

Meanwhile, Doueihi’s future at the Tigers is far from secure. The Lebanese international remains one of the few Wests Tigers players unsigned beyond this season and has been the subject of interest from multiple clubs including the Panthers, Dragons, and Eels.

The 26-year-old’s season has been marred by inconsistency, with frequent shifts in the starting line-up, position changes, and off-field tension following a reported heated altercation with Tigers coach Benji Marshall during a training scrimmage.

Despite the recent friction, Marshall is clear that the club remains committed to retaining the Wests Tigers utility.

“I don't say a lot about recruitment publicly, but what I will say is that we've offered him a contract,” Marshall said.

“What happens from there is behind the scenes. My part's done, but we definitely want to keep him.”
