The NRL June 30 trade deadline is fast approaching, the final chance for teams to bolster their roster in the run-in to the 2025 finals.

To date, former Wests Tigers half, Lachlan Galvin, remains the biggest mid-season roster addition after his bitter move to the table-topping Canterbury Bulldogs last month.

English international winger, Dom Young, will also make his return to Adam O’Brien’s struggling Newcastle side this Saturday against the Dolphins, having been given an immediate release by the Sydney Roosters after Round 15.

Earlier this week, the Parramatta Eels released former representative forward, Bryce Cartwright, allowing him to play out the 2025 season with his junior club, St Mary’s Saints.

With just 10 days until the NRL transfer window slams shut for 2025, other moves are in the wings in what could be a busy final week for club bosses and player agents.

The next likely NRL domino to fall involves Finau Latu with CODE Sports reporting the highly rated St George Illawarra Dragons forward is set to make an early move to the Bulldogs in coming days, having already signed with the club from next season.

Latu, who played for the Australian Schoolboys in 2023, rejected a lucrative three-year deal from the Newcastle Knights in April, preferring to link with Cameron Ciraldo and the Bulldogs from 2026—much to the displeasure of his current coach at the Dragons, Shane Flanagan.

“I wanted to keep him and I’m not happy about the negotiation side of it,“ Flanagan said when news of Latu’s Bulldogs move became public.

“Sometimes you lose them because you’re not willing to pay a certain fee, or you don’t want the player, but we wanted to keep him, and we aren’t happy about it.”
