Nelson Asofa-Solomona has played just 22 minutes of NRL action this season.

He came off the bench for the Melbourne Storm in Round 3 following a suspension, but a concussion has seen him miss further time.

When can fans expect to see him back in first grade?

The Sporting News takes a look.

Where is Nelson Asofa-Solomona?

Asofa-Solomona hasn't played in the NRL since Round 3 against the Panthers.

He started 2025 on the sideline as he served the remaining match of his suspension for a hit on Roosters forward Lindsay Collins in last year's preliminary final.

With Melbourne on a bye in Round 2, he came off the pine the next weekend to make his season debut.

However, following the clash with the reigning champions, he failed a head injury assessment and entered league concussion protocols.

While players are typically permitted to return after an 11-day stand down period, Asofa-Solomona's return to the field was delayed, with the club exercising caution.

In fact, 'Big Nelson' was not even included in the Storm's extended squad until Round 8 – over a month since initially suffering a concussion.

While he didn't make the matchday side, he did play 46 minutes for feeder club Sunshine Coast Falcons in the Queensland Cup.

For Magic Round, the 29-year-old was again named in Melbourne's extended squad but returned to reserve grade for another game.

Storm coach Craig Bellamy explained that getting his enforcer back to required fitness levels was behind his selection decision.

"He [Asofa-Solomona] is going up to play in the Queensland Cup tomorrow," Bellamy said ahead of Magic Round.

"We will see how he goes there, and he might get a run with us next week.

"He has been out for a long time, and we wanted him to just go up there and have a bit of a run, see where he is at fitness-wise, see where he is at with the concussion thing."

Is Nelson Asofa-Solomona playing this week?

Asofa-Solomona has again been named in the extended squad for Melbourne's Round 10 match against the Tigers.

Listed in the No. 22 jersey, there is a chance he is called up to the matchday squad, potentially in place of Joe Chan.

Bellamy, however, has not made any indication that he will promote the prop.

At this stage, another game in the Queensland Cup appears likely.
