Knights vs. Titans: Tino Fa'asuamaleaui avoids charge
Tino collided with Leo Thompson in the opening set of Friday night's first match, with the Knights prop left sprawled on the turf. The Titans skipper clutched at his head before referee Belinda Sharpe put him on report.
Tino went in hard on the New Zealand international but failed to wrap his arm while attempting to make the tackle.
The ref informed him he was being put on report for dangerous contact, however the Match Review Committee decided that he was not deserving of any further punishment, a welcome relief for the star with the State of Origin opener looming large on the horizon.
Fa'asuamaleaui has already spent time on the sidelines this season after he was charged with a careless high tackle in Round 5.
He was sin-binned for the high shot and later copped a one-match ban for his troubles.
Eels vs. Dolphins: J'maine Hopgood avoids ban after crusher tackle
Following a nervous wait for the MRCs findings, Hopgood has dodged a sideline stint for a crusher tackle.
He will instead pay a $1,500 fine with an early guilty plea or face a $2,000 penalty if he challenges and is unsuccessful.
On Thursday night, Hopgood was part of a three-man tackle before he brought the English centre down in an awkward position. Farnworth remained on the turf, clutching at his neck following the action that allowed the Bunker to review the contact.
"He has a duty of care to allow the head to come through and not apply pressure," referee Wyatt Raymond told an infuriated Mitch Moses.
The Parra captain questioned the decision and tried to fight his teammate's case. But he did so to no avail, as a penalty was awarded to the Phins with Jamayne Isaako booting a penalty goal from in front of the posts.
"I agree with the Bunker," Cooper Cronk said on Fox League.
"There was a right arm from Hopgood that locked the neck of Herbie. It wasn't a true crusher. But there was still pressure on the back of the neck."
Hopgood remains in the frame for State of Origin selection with just one round remaining in the NRL before Billy Slater announces his Queensland Maroons side for Game I.
