Alex Johnston is on the verge of creating NRL history.
After moving to outright second on the all-time top try-scorers list last season, he is now within reach of the top spot.
Here's when the Rabbitohs winger could break Ken Irvine's long-standing record.

When can Alex Johnston break the NRL try-scoring record?
Following a stunning four-try haul against the Storm in Round 16, Johnston had to wait a few weeks before he added to his tally again.
He crossed once in the dying stages of South Sydney's Round 20 loss to Penrith move to 207 career tries, then bagged a double against the Titans in Round 23 to reach 209.
He needs just three more tries to match Irvine's historic total of 212, and four to take the outright lead for the most tries in NRL history.
Johnston entered the current campaign off the back of a serious Achilles injury before going on to suffer a rib issue.
South Sydney have two more matches scheduled for the 2025 regular season.
If the winger can stay healthy, four tries is an achievable target – especially with some doubles – although Bunnies fans will be cautious not to jinx it.
Most tries scored in NRL history
As it stands, two active players – Johnston and Daniel Tupou – sit in the top 5 of the NRL's all-time top try-scorers table.
