The Maroons have named a new State of Origin captain ahead of Game II in Perth.
Cameron Munster will now take the reins from Daly Cherry-Evans who was axed after a disappointing outing at Suncorp Stadium in the series opener.
On the Round 15 episode of the Sunday Footy Show, former Queensland captain Darren Lockyer, who is now a part of Billy Slater's selection panel, spoke about Munster's ascension into this role.
"A couple of years ago no one ever thought he would be a Queensland captain, but here he is," he said.
"He’s definitely matured over the years, especially in the last couple.
"I’m very proud of him."
The Storm playmaker has become renowned for stepping up under the brightest lights; and with the Maroons down 1-0 in the series, he will have to go to another level to pull the shield out of the fire.
"I think he’s probably the one player that can influence the result, hence the reason for giving the captaincy to him," said Lockyer.
"He’ll play out of his skin and I’m sure he’ll have a big game."

Andrew Johns, who himself skippered an Origin side to victory, albeit for the Blues, believes that the call to put the (c) next to the five-eights name was a genius tactic by powerbrokers in Queensland.
"I think it’s a master stroke, an absolute master stroke," he said.
"He might just need that little bit of a prod to bring out the old Munster.
"When he’s on, it’s terrifying."
It's been three years since an Origin game was played in Perth, with New South Wales putting a 32-point drubbing on Queensland on that occassion.
Munster scored a try in that game, but will be hoping for more, especially with the added responsibility he's been given to lead his state.
