Young halfback sensation Carter Mareko has reached a major milestone in his promising rugby career by locking in his future with a three-year deal at the Sydney Roosters.

Just months after being named Player of the Tournament in the 2025 Harold Matthews Cup, Mareko has quickly established himself as one of the top under-17 prospects in the game.

This follows a standout six-month stretch with the Central Coast Roosters and Central Coast Sports College, where the young gun’s exceptional form helped guide the team to the third week of the finals and within touching distance of the Harold Matthews Cup Grand Final.

Mareko also featured in the Under-18 ASSRL National Championships.

Speaking to Zero Tackle, Mareko described his new deal, which commits him to the Sydney Roosters until the end of the 2028 season, as a surreal moment.

"It's unreal playing for the Roosters, and when you're out on the field, you have to pinch yourself that I'm here," Mareko stated.

"We're really tight and we do everything together. It's just good playing with your brothers.

"I'll go back and work on my game in the off-season, then start again in pre-season for SG Ball.”
