Roosters veteran announces retirement from NRL
The 2025 NRL season will be the final campaign of Chad Townsend's career, with the 34-year-old announcing his retirement.
Townsend posted to Instagram to make his retirement official, with six rounds remaining in the regular season.
"When I think about the young kid who was footy obsessed from Yarrawarrah, who just wanted to play footy with his mates, who stood on the family hill waving his flag, who had dreams of making it to the NRL and who had to earn everything he got, my heart and soul are filled with love and gratitude," Townsend wrote.
"The game owed me nothing, but it gave me everything."
The veteran has made six appearances during the 2025 season, with the Roosters still an outside chance to make the finals.
