Penalties can be momentum swingers in the NRL, and the league's biggest offenders so far this season have been revealed.
In data compiled by Zero Tackle, Roosters forward Angus Crichton has given away the most penalties on average.
The NSW star has had the whistle blown on him 12 times in 11 appearances this campaign – an average of 1.09 offences per match.
Crichton's discipline can be somewhat excused, though, considering his 90.1 per cent tackle efficiency and 127 average run metres.

Clint Gutherson is second on the list with 0.92 penalties a game.
The veteran joined the Dragons this season and has provided some much-needed experience and organisation at fullback.
Discipline will be a key factor if the Red V want to break their finals drought this year, with the side losing seven matches this season by six points or less.

Storm lock Trent Loiero rounds out the podium, averaging 0.85 penalties per match.
He copped plenty of criticism after giving away four penalties in Melbourne's Magic Round loss to the Raiders.
Since then, he has tidied up his discipline and made two Origin appearances for Queensland.
