Joe Chan has been called into Melbourne's backline for their Round 18 match with the Cowboys.

The Storm will head to Townsville on Saturday without Origin stars Xavier Coates, Cameron Munster, Harry Grant, Stefano Utoikamanu and Trent Loiero.

To add to their selection issues, local talent Sua Faalogo has been sidelined with a hamstring injury.

This has seen Craig Bellamy name Chan – who is officially listed as a back-rower – at centre.

The 23-year-old has played six games this season, with all those appearances coming off the bench.

He has averaged 62 run metres in 2025, recording 90 per cent tackle efficiency.

Grant Anderson shifts to the wing to partner Chan on the left, while Nick Meaney will link up with Kane Bradley on the right.

Tyran Wishart comes in at five-eighth, meaning rising playmaker Jonah Pezet is listed in the No. 14 jersey upon his return from injury.

Lazarus Vaalepu and Ativalu Lisati both join Alec MacDonald on the pine.

A potential Storm debut also looms for Josiah Pahulu, who joined the club from the Titans in late May. He has been named on the extended bench.
