Jacob Kiraz is firming for an earlier-than-expected return as the Bulldogs prepare for their annual King’s Birthday showdown with the Eels, just weeks after suffering a calf injury initially tipped to rule him out until mid-season.
The 22-year-old flyer had been sidelined with a “significant” calf strain sustained in Round 11, with early reports suggesting a 4–6 week recovery window.
However, in a surprise twist, Kiraz has now been named in the extended squad to face Parramatta, signalling a potential comeback less than four weeks after the setback.

The Lebanese international was in blistering form before the injury struck, bagging a Magic Round hat-trick and leading the club’s effort areas. His absence had been a blow to both the Bulldogs and his fading Origin hopes.
But now, Cameron Ciraldo may be able to count on Kiraz’s energy and aggression from out wide just when the stakes are highest.

While no official confirmation has been given on whether he’ll make the final 17, Kiraz’s inclusion in the wider squad has tongues wagging at Belmore.
If cleared, he’ll join a star-studded list of returns for the King’s Birthday clash, including Origin reps Stephen Crichton, Max King and Kurt Mann, all of whom are expected to line up at Accor Stadium.
And with the Bulldogs chasing a season sweep over their western Sydney rivals, Kiraz’s return might be the lift they didn’t know they needed.
