Out of favour Bronco Selwyn Cobbo is set to remain in reserve grade for a third successive weekend—as speculation continues to intensify about his future with the club under Michael Maguire.
Named as 19th man for Sunday’s vital NRL clash with the Sharks at Suncorp Stadium, 23-year-old Cobbo is likely to again be lining up for Wynnum-Manly in the QRL Hostplus Cup.
Still off contract for 2026, several clubs are rumoured to be poised to make a play for the six-time Queensland Origin star including the Roosters, Cowboys, Tigers and Dragons.
In the meantime, it remains to be seen seen if Cobbo can force his way back into Maguire’s plans in 2025—or if the end of his time at Red Hill is nigh.

Earlier today, fellow Broncos winger Jesse Arthars was full of support for his axed backline team-mate.
“Selly is full of energy and always happy to be around. He’s always performing at training,” Arthars said.
“You guys wouldn’t see it but he’s always doing things away from the field as well.”
“He’s played a couple of games at Wynnum and doing what he can to get back in the team.”
Arthurs also explained the entire Broncos squad knows where it stands with coach Michael Maguire after four losses in their past five matches.
“Madge always says that you’re only renting the jersey,” Arthars said.
“I want to play consistent footy to make sure I hold on to a jersey—that’s what everyone’s trying to do in the team.”
“Everyone has seen how good Selwyn is. He’s played at Origin level and done awesome things for this club.”
In Cobbo’s place, Josiah Karapani holds his spot on the wing for the Broncos after a try double in the Round 14 victory over the Gold Coast Titans.
